How we started ?

Ribbon began during the toughest time in the world - the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was a time when everyone was told to stay home, but Ribbon encouraged people to go out. The idea faced rejection more than 100 times from investors and others. One person even said, "The best advice I can give you is to give up on this project, move on, and work on something else."

It all began with some sketches in the summer of 2019. A group of young co-founders shared a belief in the power to change the world. They set out to create something that would bring people, culture, tourism, and business together.

For years, Mumu traveled across countries in Asia like Japan and Taiwan for work. However, he found that his experiences with tourist attractions were often disappointing. What truly stayed with him were the wonderful moments he shared with local people. Through these connections, he learned about their culture, language, food, stories, and the hidden gems only locals knew about. Mumu wanted to bring these special memories to life and share them with everyone. So, he came up with an idea for a social networking app called Ribbon.

Ribbon aimed to connect travelers from around the world with locals in a safe and meaningful way. Mumu believed that everyone's time and value were valuable, so the app required a small payment. Today, Ribbon has grown into a vibrant community with over 48,000 users and 3,000 hosts worldwide. It continues to allow people to hang out and experience the world alongside locals, creating lasting connections that celebrate the beauty of cultural exchange.

How to Meet A Host

Step by step guide for a new user on how to meet a host.
1. Register as a user with IC verification.
2. Upload genuine photo and write a simple bio to let host know who you are.
3. Filter your preferred activity and set your location.
4. Chat with host and ask for availability, date, time and location.
5. If host is available, host will send user a meet up pass.
6. Proceed with the buy star payment from the meet up pass.
7. If payment success, user will receive a public meeting rules, and a meet up
confirmation.
8. And you are all set ! Don't forget to rate the host and write a review after meet up ~
